Living LARGE with Duchenne, Son takes Mom to Senior Prom
By Misty on Apr 18, 2010 in Family Love & Duchenne
When Luke asked me to his Senior Prom I was deeply touched at the same time sort of sad.
Over joyed because what mom in their right mind wouldn’t say yes! And sad for Luke cause of my desire for him to have “normal” life, where the boy asked the girl and he picks her up in his car.
Armed to the dress, the flowers and a stud of a date off we went to dinner before Prom…Once there it was interesting to see the other kids reactions. Some you could tell were definitely loving it…others whispered under their breaths and a few even ignored us, even a couple that knew us. At first I was sort of upset, but brushed it off. Luke and I were there to have fun! Which we did. The best part, the music, second best in my book which I am sure Luke would disagree was all the girls wanting to dance with him. The prom committee even surprised us with the leader singer of a band from Alaska: 36 Crazy Fists, Brock Lindow. Yes Luke got his picture with him. VERY COOL !
Over All the night was a blast…we only had one glitch, on the way home (1am) our van broke down. Thankfully we were about 5 minutes from home so my husband got out of bed to come help us.

That was great Misty.Hope all is great with you.
THANKS Beverly we had a BLAST! All is going well.
