Misty VanderWeele a Speaker, Author and Duchenne Parent
Advocate, creator of the Duchenne Parent Help line, has 14 years of
public speaking experience, her story with son's deadly disease has
been featured in the Alaska Parenting Magazine, local newspaper the
Frontiersman and the online MDA Quest Magazine. With appearances
at the Alaska Women Show, The Alaska Chapter Muscular Dystrophy
Association and Channel 2 News (Alaska NBC Television Station).
From fetal position to finding her voice to assist in the mission to
conquer Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)!
Misty brings to the table 3 suns(ions) (passION- inspiratION-
motivatION) through sharing her experiences of navigating the
Duchenne journey, her belief is that every parent dealing with DMD is
meant to be on this journey, even though it wasn't wanted. That they
are strong enough to handle the consuming depths of pain that DMD
brings to not only survive...but THRIVE!
An "Alaska Girl" born and raised where she still resides on a
Commercial Vegetable Farm with husband Glen, daughter, Jenna and
her son Luke, who's journey with DMD has enriched her life beyond
measure. All of which has deepened her fascination for the outdoors,
family and the human connection.
