55 Days of One Step At a Time with STS Treatment…

I have this vision of a man hiking up a mountain almost all the way to the top falling down trying to get up when the man in front of him reaches down to help his buddy up. This is the way I see the STS Vecttor Treatments my son is undergoing. When he started the treatments 55 days ago he couldn’t turn his head much, he couldn’t reach, pinch, move his leg muscles, hug or even sleep without his bi-pap.

At 3 weeks Luke had over all 30-40%, now he is building muscle, putting legos together, which means he can pinch. Now he is even engaging ALL his muscle groups.

I have heard this is snake oil, my response, if it is I want 10 truck loads delivered right to my front door!

Below are a videos of Luke receiving Physical Therapy on Monday August 2, 2010.  You can so tell Luke is trying to move every muscle his therapist asks. She is re-training Luke to know how to use his muscles, so his brain can remember what it was like to lift his arm and move his legs. It is such a blessing to witness and share.

Enjoy the videos. There are 4 Parts…

As a parent of a son wit DMD I am very concern about this and I’m sure this letter won’t be published with the rest of the comments. While I can clearly see how this child’s tendons are loosen, I don’t see how you are putting dystrophin back into his body. You are using up the preious little he has.

  13. Misty says:

The treatment isn’t putting dystrophin back into his body Kathy, the body is the only thing that can make dystrophin…it is putting the circulation back into his body, dystrophin plays a very large role in the circulation at the cellular level and since DMD is caused by the lack of dystophin the body isn’t getting the right circulation…sorry I didn’t explain myself correctly to give you the wrong impression. Luke is doing very well and he is also not the only DMD young man or child receiving this treatment…Blessing Kathy…♥Misty

  14. Sarah Knowles says:

    Hi Misty
I firstly want to say WOW! and Amazing!
Luke does seem to be doing incredibly well,
This STS treatment, is there an age limit for lads who can be treated? is there always success? and are there any bad side effects or risks involved? I guess what I’m asking is…is the STS treatment safe?
I’m amazed and inspired at Lukes progress and some others I have seen, read about.
Could this be a cure? I really hope so.
Send my best wishes and words of encouragement “Go Luke!” Lots of Love Sarah XXX

  15. Misty says:

Sarah, it is safe, there is no pain involved, at this moment I believe almost 40 boys are receiving the treatment and only a couple not reporting anything happening…but by the nature of the treatment I think we are just missing something with them…Yes Luke is doing well..tomorrow I will be shooting more video of Luke at PT to compare videos :-)
